What are leads?

If you are a business owner or someone interested in marketing, then you must understand that everything ultimately comes down to leads. But you are probably asking, what are leads exactly?

So a lead is basically a potential customer who can purchase your service or product. It may be that the lead was interested in you in the past or is interested in you now. Every lead contains different contact details depending on the business niche. There are leads that come with a name and phone number, and there are those that come with many filtering questions such as city, date of birth, and more.

Lead Types

Organic Leads – Leads that come to you in an organic way without sponsored ads intervention. That is, leads that reached you through friends, recommendations, or even from your business website. These leads are not paid for and come to you naturally.

Hot Leads – A hot lead is essentially a potential customer who left their details in the last 24 hours and is interested in your product or service right now. These are usually leads that are close to buy, and your goal is to sell to them as quickly as possible.

Cold Leads – These are leads that were previously warm leads but time has passed and they are no longer interested in your products. What businesses do with such leads is usually to contact them and ask if the product is still relevant to them, essentially trying to “warm up” the lead.

These types of leads are considered to be of low quality but at a very cheap price, and there are businesses that need them.

Exclusive Leads – Leads that come only to one business owner. For example, if you deal with painting jobs, when you are asked for exclusive leads, you will receive leads that have left their details and you are the only ones who are contacting them, and you have no competitors who will try to close them first. These leads are a bit expensive but of very high quality and their conversion rate is very high.

Divided Leads – These leads are the opposite of exclusive leads. These are leads that are divided among several professionals, creating competition for the lead and the best one wins.
